Hot Mikado - Audience Feedback
"WOW SUPERCALLIFRAGULISTICEXPEADILDOTIUS.
We have previously been wowed by your productions in Frodsham. But last night you introduced us to the delights of The Brindley.
Congrats to all the team for a wonderful production. My wife used to dance in shows, and we were both watching those arms, they were all wonderfully in unison, you were all having fun, all that energy and life. Hope you enjoyed a good party afterwards you deserved it.

"Congratulation to the company on the best production I have ever seen the Zodiac produce. Any future amateur shows in the Brindley this year have a very hard act to follow."
Malcolm Wallace (Runcorn).
"What a wonderful show, from the minute the curtain opened the impact was stunning costumes, singing, music and dancing. This show really worked and was a credit to all involved. Please pass on our congratulations to everyone involved with the show and enjoy the rest of the performances. I am sure you will all have earned a rest after this exhausting week.
We now look forward to enjoying your next performance in November. Each time we come we are sure you cannot better the last performance but you always manage to put on an excellent show and the move to the Brindley has certainly help to achieve this extra success.
Thanks for a great evening. "
Mo & Rob Patheyjohns (Warrington)
"Just to say - FANTASTIC. I really enjoyed the show - a great evening's entertainment and so professional. It was so different and such great fun - even more so if you know the original show! There was so much energy on stage and no weak links. Congratulations to everyone!"
Helen Owen (Runcorn)
"Just a quick line to the Society to say how much we enjoyed the show last night – fantastic.
I went to the Brindley being sure I wouldn’t enjoy it because G & S, and the Mikado in particular, are favourites of mine not to be messed about (!)
However I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Right from the opening note it was terrific. The music was good, the costumes were colourful, the whole cast were obviously enjoying themselves and it was extremely lively.
Everyone deserves to be well pleased with themselves – it was difficult to see where the amateur/professional line was."

Hot Mikado - NODA review
For its second production at The Brindley Theatre the
Zodiac made a brave choice in selecting Hot Mikado, and what a
super job was made of it. It is not one for the G&S purists but
an enjoyable foot tapping razzel-dazzle show none the less.
Making his debut with the Zodiac’s, Michael Fletcher, a member
of the National Youth Theatre, was in excellent form as Nanki-Poo.
So too was Eve Cawley as Yum-Yum with sisters Jennifer and
Alison Ball as the other little girls from school, Pitti-Sing and
Peep-Bo, under the watchful eye of their mother, Valarie, in the chorus.
Sam McCosh, Tim Jones and Aaron Cawley combined well as Ko-Ko,
Pooh-Bah and Pish-Tush respectively. Joe Youds tapped his way through
the role of the Mikado. The principal line up was completed by Bredgeen
Smyth magnificent as Katisha.
The entire cast had the daunting task of adopting a completely
different style of vocal technique to cope with the complexities of the
score which they all accomplished admirably and were backed by a super
on-stage band.
The stage setting was innovative, especially the opening to Act
II, ‘Braid the Raven Hair’, done in silhouette, and the costumes were
appropriate to the production.
This is a great leap forward by the Zodiac’s, a show that they
can look back on with pride and a great sense of achievement,
congratulations. (David Parkes)
